I had a clear picture of how I wanted to paint this piece. I wanted the background to be abstract but definitely related to winter. I used both knife and brush work to accomplish what I envisioned. The fox was a whole different matter I wanted lots of detail in his gorgeous fur, I wanted his eyes to connect with the viewer and draw them in. I feel that I achieved that.
